A] Trip to Kataragama / Hambanthota – in September 2010
  Organized by the Galle Branch of RFCSS – Over 250 members of RFCSS participated in the trip in 5 busses. Kurunegala & Kandy Branches came on their own transport and other from Anuradhapura, Colombo & Galle travel in the three buses provided by Army, Air force & Navy. We reached Kataragama in the evening and the party housed at Gangarama Rest & at Army Holiday Resort. Meals were arranged by the Army. On the 2nd day visits to Tissa & Kirinda Temples arrange and after lunch visited Sithulpauwa temple in the Yale district, and return in the evening in time to attend to the Kataragama Pooja. A visit to Kiri Vehera temple for a special pooja arranged by the army, blessing the Husbands’ killed in action in the following, morning. After breakfast the party visited newly constructing Habanthota Habour. They also had the privilege of visiting Cinema Village in Hambanthota before dispersing and returning to Galle.
B] Workshop in Kandy in April 2010 - Two days
  Kandy Branch instead of having workshop arranged visits to Dalada Maligawa and other temples around Kandy and to a Buddhist sermon at the end of the First day by the head priest in the temple where accommodation was arranged. On the next day Sinhala & Tamil New year celebrations arranged at the School grounds. Various New Year competitions and selection of New Year Kumari, New Year Sigithi kumari & Sigithi Kumaraya were selected. All the winners were given a gift and the Area Commander Kandy was present as chief guest. Over 230 participated in the programme.
C] Two day Workshop at Anuradhapura – December 2009 organized by the Anuradhapura Branch of RFCSS.
  Nearly 250 numbers participated in the programme. A visit to Thantirimale Temple and other worshiping temples and visit to ruins of ancient kings palaces in Aunradhapura planned for the first day. The workshop conducted at St Joshop College Anuradhapura and matters pertaining to their salaries, children’s education etc discussed. Counseling session for children arranged on the request of their mothers.
D] Workshop at Colombo -Two days– August 2009 arranged by the Colombo Branch of RFCSS.
  Over 300war widows & their children participated in the two day workshop. Accommodation arranged at Jethawana Temple, Borella. The group visited Museum and BMICH on the first day. The workshop on the 2nd day conducted at the German Institute of Technical Studies. The entire programme sponsorship including meals arrange by the Past German Institute lectures association. An awareness of the facilities at GITS for children and others presented and discussed. An Art competition for children also arranged. The workshop concluded with a children’s concert and award of gifts.
E] Two day Workshop at Kurunegala –April 2009 at Ibbagamuwa Central.
  Over 250 war widows & their children participated in the workshop conducted by the Kurunegala Branch of RFCSS. On the first day visit to Waskaduwa temple and ruins of ancient’s kings and visit to temple on kurunegala rock arranged. The workshop conducted at the Ibbagamuwa Central with the participation DG Pensions and counselor giving presentation and discussions thereafter. Accommodation arranged by the Principal and food by the RFCSS. The workshop concluded with a concert by the children and award of gifts to the participants.
F] workshop at St Joshops college Anuradhapura - 27th & 28th December 2009
  Workshop at St Joshops college Anuradhapura attached for your records.(27th & 28th December 2009) Nearly 300 war widows and children participated. Army Area commander Anuradhapura provided dinner on the first day at Rathnamali Rest.  Mahamaya Old Girls Association ,Colombo branch provided gifts to 100 children and 300 packs of short eats in a Ranaviru Special Bag. They also arranged the lunch on the 2nd day sponsored by National Saving Bank, Anuradhapura. Also Dr Rohana Kuruppu (Phoenix School of Clothing) donated ladies blouses and skirts for war widows.
G] Two Day workshop in Colombo- 29th, & 30th, August 2009
  Over 300 war widows and children from Anuradapura, Kandy, Kurunegala, Galle, Colombo, Negumbo & Matara Districts visited Colombo. The first day programme includes visits to Museum, BMICH and Vihara Maha Devi Park and an evening Buddhist sermon at Kuppiyawatta Temple, Accommodation provided at the temple premises. The second day workshop sponsored by Alumni association of Sri Lanka German Institute of Technologists (SLGIT). The programme includes a presentation by GIT on the facilities available at the institute, lecture by Mahanama Dodampagamage on path to your future, discussion with the three forces representatives Army, Navy & Air Force, separate Art class for children, concert by the children of war widows, followed by award of gifts to all present.
H] 13th October 2007 - Colombo district at Mahamathya Vidyalaya
  37 Widows participated. New committee was formed and their difficulties discussed and remedial measures sort.
I] 8th November 2007 - Kurunegala District
  Committee meeting was conducted at St Anne’s, Kurunegala. 41 Widows participated. The committee has been meeting regularly at selected war widows residences and had been helping each other and the new members in counselling. Frequently they have been meeting at Almsgivings, Birthday parties, attainment of age functions etc.
J] On 23rd December 2007, at Holiday Resort, Wadduwa.
  An all island one day workshop was conducted after a lapse of five years. 135 widows and children participated. The Army, Navy, Air Force officials who participated made a genuine attempt to offer solutions to the problems the widows were faced with. Presentations were given by an Agriculture officer,, Bank manager, Nursing Tutor followed by an address by a Counselor and a demonstration on stitching curtains by a professional lady. Mean while Children had a wonderful time in the swimming pool.
